Yarram Yarram Landcare Network $30,000 The Norman Wettenhall Foundation contributed $30,000 to the Yarram Yarram Landcare Network's JARR Project. The Jack and Albert Riparian Restoration Project (JARR) is a community initiative in West Gippsland. The objective is to produce a coordinated approach to improving the environmental health and productivity of the Jack-Albert Sub-catchment and the Nooramunga Corner Inlet (RAMSAR Wetland which supports large numbers of migratory bird species). The main project aims are to coordinate, monitor and document NRM work across the area, including nutrient management, water quality, fish, native vegetation, seagrass, productivity, and soil conservation. The overarching objective is to create landscape linkages between the Strzelecki Ranges and the Nooramunga Marine and Coastal Park. In March 2010 Beth Mellick travelled to Yarram to launch their Biodiversity Blueprint. The Blueprint mainly consists of a series of maps detailing the areas natural resources and landholder contributions to the landscape. The community is extremely passionate about this project which was evident from the many farmers present. The JARR project will now produce a series of information guides to landholders about flora and fauna in their area as well as coastal critters. The guides will lead the way for a community monitoring project, making use of the community web mapping portal (cwmp).
